In what can be termed as a controversial match, champion Sevilla come on top against the out of luck Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Cup quarterfinal. Though scoreline shows 2-1 in favor of Sevilla, but Tottenham played really well and deserve at least a draw. This defeat means that Tottenham now have to play out of their skin in the reverse fixture at home.
Earlier, Robbie Keane gave Tottenham a lead in the opening stanza of the match. Tottenham playing in his usual attacking style dominated the first half of the match, but former Tottenham striker Kanoute levelled the score for Sevilla. But the goal from Alexandr Kerzhakov’s was more than enough for champion to get the all-important one-goal cushion and also kept their hope alive of retaining the UEFA Cup once again. The controversial penalty decision left Tottenham players fuming in the second half of the game and they were unable to concentrate on the task in hand.
